Faithless (Reissue)

I have recently finished writing the review of the Reissue of APOLOCALYPSE's ST debut album, and honestly, I had mixed feelings about it; more negative than positive though I must say. The album felt like it lacked variety. And now I have given a listen to the Reissue of the band's 2nd full-length album "Faithless"; which was originally released way back in 1993.
The album starts with "House of Confusion", which as expected is fast as a runaway train, but surprisingly not as chaotic and has a few melodies in the middle; it almost feels as if there is a method to the Thrashing madness. "Slay for Play" has a lot of sharp solos and the vocals are much cleaner. The screams are so much better here and they reminded me of the vocals of such bands as ARTILLERY.
"Division" starts with a haunting sound of a saw cutting down on a man's throat - without the grotesque screams though - following which the song turns into a Thrash Metal train-wreck with fast paced riffs and even faster vocals. Fat vocals such as these are unique, far and few in between even within the Thrash genre, and I think that makes this song even more interesting along with the rampage of juicy Thrash riffs.
"Unwanted" has some hair lifting riffs and a few complex solos - along with some fine production - and sounds like an interesting song. The vocals get even better with "Extreme Sensation" as Mic Meader screams his lungs out; and the addition of the unique guitar work here makes the song complete.
"Faithless" is another riff attack on the listener's eardrums, and the gang vocals are really impressive too. Its fast and its catchy. "Reason To Live" almost feels like an extended version of the previous song, because everything is so similar and the song has nothing new to offer. "Shoot You Down" has lot of ARTILLERY and SKID ROW shades in it; thanks to the Sebastian Bach-style vocals and ARTILLERY's eerie, sharp riffs. The 7-minute track has lots of melodic parts that allow the song to have lots of variety and flavour; something that the band's previous album (and this one to an extent) lacks a lot of. "Bad Breath" is 4 minutes full of old school Thrash riffage, and sounds good even though it lacks anything new to offer. The last song on offer is a Bonus track "10 Wall", and it chugs along just fine, but is unable to sound like anything special.
This 2nd full-length Reissue album of these Swiss Thrashers is miles better than their debut album, and is actually worth recommending, even with all its flaws and defects.
