And Then there Were Two

I could not decide if the band's name or the cover artwork was more feeble; successfully, though, the musical content is as appealing as you would never imagine. APE - coming from Toronto, Canada - had issued their "Survival Of The Fittest" debut somewhere in 2009 and this is a brand new EP including 3 fresh songs flirting with...
...everything Rock/Metal related. Go ahead, have an imaginary mixer available and throw in the names of LED ZEPPELIN, METALLICA, Ozzy Ozbourne/BLACK SABBATH, KISS, PANTERA, ALICE IN CHAINS, TYGERS OF PAN TANG, LAST CRACK, BUDGIE and LINKING PARK and just drop dead to the taste of the unforeseen result. The band hails is a Canadian trio so this and only would safe enough lines from being written, since it's quite an axiom Canadian trios rule (be it TRIUMPH, RUSH, EXCITER or RAZOR) and this is no exception. There's virtually everything in this small set of songs: a solid know-how 80s Metal/HardRock rhythm section, great made-in-Britain guitar melodies/harmonies, a powerful voice mixing the yesterday and today - and tomorrow - of Rock/Metal made in the American continent (I'd never expect giving thumbs up to Grunge/Nu-Metal-like barks...) and some lunatic impressive production and mix giving you the impression this band wants to stay unsigned (they may really do, I don't know) in order to make their music 100% the way the would like it to sound.
The lyrics are as abnormal as the musicmaking, of course, but add this extra spice to the overall offspring of three players whose record collection's consistency I'd die just checking out. APE plays loud music that needs a PhD advanced academic degree to be categorized/labelled. And this is no sign of weak mishmash; these guys offer something for fans of harsh call-it-what-you-want Rock/Metal music and they should definitely be checked for a records deal (if they want it, haha). I do not know if a full tracklist can show signs of wear but the "Survival Of The Fittest" EP is so dynamic...so full...so swallow-it-at-once!
