Relapse Records has totally lost the control - in my humble opinion of course - with all this kind of modern music. I can't say that this sucks, since it has exposed some magnificent bands and has helped them a lot with their music, but when you listen to a weird experimental band and the back of the promo describes the music as Grindcore or Hardcore, then we have a problem.
The band hails from Poland, a country famous for its Death Metal scene with bands like VADER, BEHEMOTH, DECAPITATED and more. It seems that ANTIGAMA wanted to keep the brutality but move on different fields playing their own opinion on how Grindcore should sound like, at least that's what their fifth full-length album Warning shows.
ANTIGAMA use Grindcore as their main ingredient, mixing it with some more modern elements like some psycho guitar leads here and there, as well as some insane breaks that gaze towards the Mathcore scene. I can't say that I was amazed by their music, since there were times I was really banging my head with classic Grind moments, but there were also times I was bored to death with their more experimental stuff. One thing I really liked in here was Patryk's vocals, this guy is a real Polish beast!
I don't know what you can find in this release, but I guess there are many people who are into this kind of music. There were times this album caused me a headache and not by its noise, but by its kind of tiring modern stuff. It seems they need to work more on making their classic (NAPALM DEATH, PIG DESTROYER) and more modern (DISCORDANCE AXIS, THE LOCUST) sound more solid and tight.
