Words cannot describe the excitement and curiosity which I experienced when this album landed in my inbox for review. Having been an avid fan of ANNIHILATOR for years now, I couldn't wait to listen to it. "Suicide Society" is the Canadian Thrashers' fifteenth studio album.  ANNIHILATOR have seen their fair share of members, with over 30 different members coming in and out of the band since their formation back in 1984. They are also considered the best selling Canadian Heavy Metal band, with millions of album copies being sold worldwide.

Right from the first second of their opening song "Suicide Society", it is evident that this album is going to be a lot different than the band's previous releases. The overall tone of this album has a very "Madhouse" (ANTHRAX) feel to it. The riff is infectious, which turns out to be a common occurrence throughout the entirety of this album. The vocals are an acquired taste, but compliment the theme of the song extremely well. Two songs later comes the anthem that is "Snap", the riff is absolutely perfect, and following the perfect riff comes a perfect bass piece. One mistake not made by ANNIHILATOR in this album is having inaudible bass. There is serious talent emanating from Oscar and they know not to waste that by turning the instrument right down.

A further two songs later comes my favorite song from this album, "Narcotic Avenue". This song has a very 80s Thrash feel to it. It's fast, heavy and in your face. It's very reminiscent of earlier ANNIHILATOR. The riff, as always, is infectious perfection. It makes me want to go and see them live JUST to be in the pit for this song. At around the four minute mark, it breaks into some slow tempo, clean guitar work. This comes out of the blue and almost sounds like another song before fading out in true 80s style.

It's not often I mention the last song of an album, but this one is too good not to. "Every Minute" starts off slow and melodic before blasting into a heavier melody. This song is sure to make the listener know the versatility of ANNIHILATOR. This entire song is catchy, and if you're the sing-along type of metalhead, this song is perfect for you. They really couldn't have picked a better song to end the album on. mid has something for everyone and every mood.

In the mood for a thrash anthem? Then listen to "Narcotic Avenue". In the mood for a slower, melodic piece? Then listen to "Every Minute". I really do believe that this is ANNIHILATOR's strongest album in a while, and possibly one of my favorite releases of this year. I can't fault this album in any way. They show their talent, versatility and passion in this album and that is a feat in itself. They do all of this while still keeping to classic ANNIHILATOR. If you're a metal head and do not have this album in your collection, (no excuse, its' been released already) then you need to have some serious words with yourself. This album is a masterpiece.
