Oh, look at a clock. Thrashing time! ANGELUS APATRIDA rocks on the stage for almost 15 years. Their 5th album is called "Hidden Evolution". Three years ago they released "The Calling" which was rated 8 by Metal Temple. Well, I wasn't reviewing this one, but after listening to their latest record, I decided to check their previous work. I'm glad to say that this metal don't rust.
Album hits hard like a shot down angel had a close encounter with the ground. Crushing blast beats followed by beating guitar riffs welcomes us during first seconds. Then, it turns into a pure Thrash grinder, which keeps pace through the whole album. Guitars become even fleshier over time. That's the spirit of the modern Thrash metal. High-speed drums beating and raw guitar shred, including mad solos. "Hidden Evolution" is 53 minutes long, unstoppable sonic mosh.
I found some MEGADETH and HAVOK in their stuff. Vocals are steady, but they fit perfectly and are entertaining. Band mainly they splurge with their technical skills. Especially in their various guitar riffs, which changes often. The variety is in style. Thrash metal has many schools. These people know how to play this genre. You can find here raw, groove, technical or even melodic parts. Also I see, that they have taken from both German and American thrash scene. This medley can be easily noticed in the song "End Man". Another great song that must be mentioned is "Architects". Absolutely different than the track I mentioned before. A bit slower, heavier and much more groovy. Similar is flagship "Hidden Evolution". Solo in this song absolutely bought me- it turns from peace, melodic composition through sick tapping, into hard shredding.
ANGELUS APATRIDA made an absolutely professional album from production and content side. I mentioned only 3 tracks, but with every song they emphasize their thrash mastery. Especially recommended for Thrash old stagers. I think they might find it pretty interesting, thanks to variety of style. Overall, the album is steady- hard and fast from beginning to the end. I'm pretty impressed of overall effect. Now go to the fridge and put out your beer. You won't listen to Thrash without beer, don't you?<
