...And Oceans - A.M.G.O.D. album cover

A futuristic band, from Scandinavia, ...And Oceans, release their 4th album under the blade of Century Media, A.M. G.O.D. or Allotropic/Metamorphic - Genesis Of Dimorphism.

What ...And Oceans play is a style of melodic Black Metal, very close to what Dimmu Borgir play: Black Metal with hard but catchy riffs and melodic keyboards. That doesn't mean that they lack innovation. To the contrary, ...And Oceans bring with them a fresh sound, mostly with the keyboards, which have a futuristic sound. And to be honest they mix very well with the music.

The only cacophony in the album is the last song, New Model World, which is nothing more than an electronic dance song. I really can't understand the point of putting that song in a black metal album, and not e.g. in a single...

Beside that song, the rest of the album has some very remarkable tracks, like Intelligence Is Sexy, Tears Have No Name and the instrumental Tba In A Silver Box. If you are into melodic Black Metal then A.M. G.O.D. is worth of a try.

8 / 10
