In this writhing image of the void you pray with a desperate fervor, your words spat into the mud as you abase yourself before this god who was old before time itself, this emperor of the emptiness whose name you had the audacity to shout at the skies. As a multitude of grasping tentacles thrash the air in silent rage you lift your eyes to the face of the lord and your sanity tumbles into the abyss, lost forever..." The album contains eight tracks.

"Of Starlit Shrines" leads off the album. It opens with a staccato rhythm heavy attack, with deadly vocals. The technical elements are sharp and sterile, with the precision hands of a surgeon. The underlying bass notes are very well done also. "Infinite Realities" begins with another heavy kick to your balls, with rolling drums and harrowing guitars. They build in a tight rhythm along with stop-on-a-dime bass and drum work. A glittering guitar solo sounds out the sound here. "Casualties of an Ascendant War" is the third straight attack on your senses. Following a punishing passage, the song takes a little diversion where the bassist flexes his muscles. The brutality of the sound reverberates in your skull, all the way down to the bone.

"The Auguries of Virgin Soil" begins with a slow lead-in until the barbarous elements rip into your flesh. Some leads add to the harrowing quality of the song. It beats you down through machine gun drums and a steady pulse of a laser over and over while you duck for cover and try in vain to escape. "Bearer of the Sacred Flame" opens with more amazing bass work. Anthony is quite the four (or five, or six?) stringer. The lead guitar work also augments the sound. There is no denying the talent of this band. "Malformed Chthonic Dream" begins with a slower, chugging sound. Through six songs now, I think you are either going to love the uncompromising vocals or they will grate on you. "Veins of the Unlight" is another burner from start to finish. The screams in this song could wake the dead and turn all living beings into zombies.

The title track closes the album; an eight-and-a-half-minute closer of more punishing music. This album is a well-oiled machine of musicians who know how to play on impossibly cramped structures and tenacious passages of music that are cold and sterile as far as melody is concerned, but that is the style. The musicianship is impeccable, and I can see how one's sanity would indeed tumble into the abyss after listening to this album. It also quite well produced for an independent release. I have a headache now, but for some reason, I don't mind.
