...It's not the most pleasant thought admitted; yet when justice prevails, the reward is always satisfying. Yet there are moments in our lives that make us feel aggressive; depraved, and misanthropic. "The Whole Of The Law" is no different feat, as well as ANAAL NATHRAKH in general. My first experience with the quartet ...if memory serves, was with the 2012 record: "Vanitas" ...the encounter was unprecedented for me as I was only just opening my mind to more genres, being heavily focused on bands I was immensely addicted to. However, my mind was completely blown with the musicianship in order with this discovery. The same can be said with this one, yet with a more open-mind than ever before. I can confidently say that this time around was a far better occurrence. It goes to show the band hasn't shown any interest in slowing down or pattern their sound to anything digestible or friendly - evidently getting better with age.

Consisting of only 2 members: mastermind Irrumator aka Mick Kenney on Bass/Guitars/Programming. And V.I.T.R.I.O.L aka David Hunt on vocals. This duo showcase complex musicianship of extreme intentions in mind; you have to be a talented individual to manage all the instrumentation for your band. And the band consistently thrive on pulsating your body while grabbing your neck and smashing it into the ground. That is probably the best ideology I can come up with! However, that ideology is a perfect notion to convince the consumer into checking this beast out. "The Whole Of The Law" is not for the faint of heart and most certainly needs an open-mind and with this narrative; you're most certainly guaranteed to get your time and monies worth. 11 tracks and 2 bonus including a fantastic cover of IRON MAIDEN's "Powerslave", that if you're a hardcore veteran of the band...this should tickle your fancy.

11 tracks ranging at around 42:07 consistently delivers the most diverse that Extreme Metal has to offer. Beginning with a distorted introduction with "The Nameless Dread", ascending to "Depravity Favours The Bold" it's clear that the band have achieved a fine blend of Black Metal & Grindcore...similarly found with "Hold Your Children Close And Pray For Oblivion". So far showcase a merciless insight to blow your speakers with a series of explosions of blast-beating efficiency. "We Will Fucking Kill You", "...So We Can Die Happy" & "In Flagrante Delicto" examine more in-depth atmospheres of aggression that captivates you into a stranglehold; arguably showcasing no safe passages as you advance. Everything sounds solid and stellar with some notable howls that passes off as a KING DIAMOND-esque pitch, gurgles and growling, showing no restraints in the process...

"Extravaganza!", "On Being A Slave" & "The Great Spectator" shows similar style to the aforementioned but with no quarter...albeit, still up there to being 2016's heaviest record. Concluding with "Of Horror And The Black Shawls", it's clear this duo may well have burnt themselves out; but evidently show their sheer onslaught could be too much for some; yet for hardcore activists, you will be diligently pummeling "The Whole Of The Law" to the fullest.<
