Endarkenment
Anaal Nathrakh
When dealing with bands that you never heard before, one must pay respect, because a total historical concept lies on its work. And the English duet ANAAL NATHRAKH is not different, because they're respected in the underground for the musical work. However, if you never heard their work, "Endarkenment" is a fine opportunity for that.
Their music can be understand as the following: a blend between Black Metal with nasty and brutal influences from Grindcore and even from modern Metal tendencies. But some Progressive elements are presented as well (especially due the use of clean vocals), and some experimental touches. Their music is not so hard to be understood or assimilated, but it's not something so easy as well (there are trials on it). It's creative, different, intense and really lovely. And by the way, it's intelligent as well, because the lyrics content makes you think (and as a free thinker that lives in Brazil, thank you for putting the president here on his place).
Irrumator produced, recorded, and mastered the songs of "Endarkenment", and the sonority of the album is intense, impacting and aggressive, but defined, in a way that anyone can understand what they're trying to express with their songs. All works in great shape to feed this anarchist machine that'll run over the idiots. And thanks to V.I.T.R.I.O.L. for the intelligent liner notes.
All the album enchants the listeners, but the brutal grasp of "Endarkenment" (very good blast beats and clean vocals), and of "Thus, Always, to Tyrants" (a fine mix between Groove Metal riffs with massive Grindcore tempos, and once more: thank you for such lyrics); the chaotic feeling presented on "The Age of Starlight Ends", the melodic touches that temper the aggressiveness of "Libidinous (A Pig with Cocks in Its Eyes)"; the massive Black/Thrash Metal touches heard on the guitars of "Feeding the Death Machine", the intense energy flow that comes from the harmonic structures of "Create Art, Though the World May Perish" and "Singularity", and the heavy extreme load of "Requiem" are their finest creative moments.
I assume that I never heard the work of ANAAL NATHRAKH with the needed attention before, but "Endarkenment" enchanted me from many different points of view. And as the world becomes ignorant and darkened, their work really represents a light to guide the way.
