Altered Perceptions - From Rise To Ruins album cover

The Introduction to "Rise" is a music box accompanied by an orchestral harmony. Coupled with the album art this makes for a pretty creepy experience... I Love it. After about a minute the band comes in hard with heavy vocals and guitar. Quick blast beats on the drums seem to be a theme here, very exciting and high energy. Im very excited about this album. The next track is "Equalize". A quick fade in guitar brings the track in. Several guitar effects keep everything fresh. The heavy vocals share the spotlight with some nu metal sounding vocals. Slow "ooh" synth with heavy drop guitar. There is a lot going during the breakdown ending of this track, it's a cataclysmic blend of heavy bass drops and face ripping guitar riffs.

"Luminescent" comes in with a punch. I'm taking note to the production on this track. The vocals are mixed perfect and the djent guitar is on point as well. There is a droning bending lead guitar that is barely present. It's subtle and eerie. There are also some clean vocals that add so much depth. The bridge to the breakdown features muted screams. The outro breakdown is super heavy, simply put this is what heavy sounds like. Hope you've been taking notes. "Sacrifice" has the drums take point, then the rest come in with some high energy guitar and vocals. This band is so unpredictable as the tone shifts from heavy to eerie to technical with melodic guitar and piano. More djent and clean vocals, I love it. The ending is so gritty and eerie. "Hellfire" comes in with a guitar part that feels urgent. The album feels like a giant breakdown. At this point I can't get enough of this band. The spoken words on this track promote the eerie feeling that is ever presence on this album. The clean vocal djent part of this track leads into a breakdown, with music box sounds on the breakdown. "Archives" comes in with spoken words and goes directly to a heavy section. Technical guitar follows with a heavy bass drop. Seriously it's hitting all the points for me, like the album was custom made for me. A quick reversing sound leads into the breakdown, very cool.

Loving the clean vocals on this track  "Frequency" comes in with a condensed guitar riff. I'm finding it difficult to describe the vocals accurately, there is a lot going on with them. They sound amazing.  "Death" has a haunting guitar lead with some heavy vocals. Certainly matches the tone of the title. Heavy bass drops are present throughout the track, very on point for me. Throughout the album I've found the guitar "glitches" out, I've always loved that. There is a blood curdling spoken section just before a breakdown... not for the feint of heart. So chilling, I love it. "Immortal" Has very heavy vocals and drums to start off. Less eerie and more "beat face" energy. The guitar gets very technical, these guys keep earning brownie points with me. Pig growling vocals with that "glitch" effect I talked about before. Killswitch guitar brings the track to a close. "Ruin" Creepy synth comes in first, blazing the path for heavy vocals. Once again I'm hearing the production value, the post must have been grueling...totally worth it though. More heavy bass drops but the track isn't losing energy. Dueling vocals and creepy synth leads into the breakdown. The music box makes an appearance to end the album.

Overall I'm honestly blown away. These guys kick the heavy and creepy into high gear and keep it there. The album has successfully captivated me and I have definitely found a band to watch out for. These guys are brutal...period.
