All My Shadows - Eerie Monsters album cover

From Frontiers Music's website, drummer Andreas Lill has this to say about the album, "the idea of recording and releasing some rock songs is something I've been thinking about for a while. While composing, I kept coming up with songs that have the spirit of the '80s. As a big fan of bands from that era, I still have a huge love for music from that time. The goal was to transport that classic music into the here and now. Hard rock with a powerful production, peppered with modern musical elements." Their debut album has nine songs.

"Silent Waters" is the first. The opening riff is heavy, and bossy, and the vocalist has a great range. The mid-tempo song is full of yearning elements, and the melodies in the chorus are catchy. "A Boy Without a Name" is a faster moving song with a heavier bottom end. Rhythm guitars chug away beneath the vocals with a commanding approach, and the chorus is rich with vocal harmonies. "Syrens" begins with steady keyboard notes, and I was wondering when they might show up. I get a bit of a SAVATAGE vibe here, especially in the early vocal cadence. The song drips with longing qualities and harmonies.

"Lifeforms" features a more tender sound, still with a good deal of longing. The slower pace is probably meant for the song to soak in. "Wolverinized" is another slower moving song, and I have mentioned this before...too many mid-tempo songs can begin to weigh down an album, because the pacing isn't varied. "The Phantoms of the Dawn" has a rousing mix of guitars and keys, but again, with a very similar pace as other songs. "Farewell" is the power ballad on the album that you knew was coming. Tender vocals combine with soft keyboard notes, creating an emotional sound. "Devil's Ride" is a more aggressive and heavier song, with a thick guitar riff. It also has a faster pace, allowing the album to get off the ground a bit more.

The title track closes the album. It has a little more of a sultry soul than other songs on the album. Again, the chorus is full of rich vocal harmonies. I also get just a smidgeon of Progressive elements here. Overall, this was a good listening experience from a band who knows how to create melodies and hooks. Although some of the songs had a similar pace, there was enough variation to keep things interesting. Andy has a really strong voice, and it made for a memorable time with the album.
