ALL LIFE ENDS are a Death Metal band and were formed in Switzerland in 2006 and have to date released two EPs and two full-length albums. Miscreation is the title of the second album and is released by Black Sunset.
ALL LIFE ENDS describe their sound as old school meets modern extreme and that's a fair description of the carnage and aggression unleashed on this album.
"The Silent End of a Bastard Breed" has an atmospheric short intro before your ears are assaulted and battered with crushing drums and a frantic riff. Later in the track there's a melodic section where I felt that clean vocals would have fitted in very well but what you get is pure Death Metal vocals. I sadly couldn't find the lyrics though David's vocals are better than some and you can hear some of the lyrics. The track certainly makes you want to headbang and I particularly like the echoey, slightly ethereal tone of the lead guitar which adds some atmosphere to the pummelling heavy rhythm. It's certainly a strong opening track and is well produced.
My favourite track is "The Dreamless Void" which at 6 minutes is the longest track but is never less than engaging. Echoey guitar paves the way for a wall of distortion and thrashy guitar before a heavy melodic headbanging riff pushes the song forward. There's a sinister feel to the vocals in the verse before some great stop-start riffing comes in where the lyrics are easier to decipher. There's some excellent lead guitar breaks later in the track and the only lull in its ferocity comes at the end on a punchy riff and some wonderfully dark atmospherics.
"Miscreation" is old-school Death Metal with some modern atmospherics. Just before the half-way mark, the track slows down on a wave of double kick drums before it picks up the pace again.
"Extinction Hours" has a heavy monstrous riff with a nice melodic groove before it hits its stride with a thrashy riff. In fact there are a lot of different riffs with a lot of variety in the song and all in all it's a very interesting track.
"Pandemonic" comes screaming out the speakers on another thrashy riff and there's some great melodic groove riffage throughout the track. It has some great atmospheric lead too which adds another dynamic to the track.
"Novas Womb" has a definite urgency in its pacing so the odd 'melodic' part sounds a little out of place though generally it's a good track.
The album is mixed and mastered by Dan Swano and the production is excellent with everything clear in the mix. The rhythm is tight and punchy and the lead adds atmospherics to the sound which makes this album a cut above the usual Death Metal fare. The vocals fit very well into the overall sound and if you're a fan of Death Metal, you should definitely check them out.
