Alex Skolnick Trio - Last Day In Paradise album cover

Everyone was surprised to see one of the best Metal guitarists out there leave Thrash and Heavy Metal to broaden his musical knowledge and explore new music lands. I am talking about Alex Skolnick, one of the guitarists who dared to play something that many bands mixed with Metal, but none managed to play it so pure. Most of you who haven't had the chance to listen to some ALEX SCOLNICK TRIO stuff will definitely be surprised!

Former TESTAMENT guitarist once decided to finish his music studies and finally get his guitar diploma. He left TESTAMENT (and played in SAVATAGE for a while) to enter New School University, the place where he earned his BfA and formed ALEX SCOLNICK TRIO. After two successful releases (Goodbye to Romance in 2002 and Transformation in 2004) Alex Scolnick returns with one more Jazz masterpiece.

Many of you will find this kind of music boring but open-minded listeners and people who search for some challenging music will find an album that will definitely feed their need for something different. As AST did on its first two albums, Last Day In Paradise does not feature exclusively only the band's songs but many covers of classics like RUSH's Tom Sawyer and TESTAMENT's Practice What You Preach. This band defines the word cover, taking the songs into a totally different world, the world of Alex Scolnick. This album is also the first AST album that features stuff like vocals, slide guitars and loops. I tell you their music knows no boundaries. I do not want to say many things regarding the music because this is a Metal webzine and this is a totally different kind of release.

The only thing I have to say is that all Jazz lovers and people that always look for something different should give a chance to Last Day In Paradise. I am into this band since it began composing songs and I tell you they are something great!
