Metal maniacs, rejoice! The Thrasher returns to present to you: AKANI; signed via Demons Run Amok Entertainment, hailing from international - performing Groove Metal, on their debut album entitled: "Through My Darkest Infernal" (released March 30th, 2016)
Since formation in 2011; the quintet in question have an EP and Single behind them, I'm acquainted with their debut album "Through My Darkest Infernal". I've had my fair share of Groove Metal with my local comrades OUTRIGHT RESISTENCE, and the well-known quartet known as the mighty PANTERA. AKANI deliver striking similarities featuring some immediate exceptionalism to boot, integrating powerful melodies to excruciatingly exquisite harmonies compiling this solid slab of raw Metal. Another comparison would be from the equally mighty SOULFLY; as within the first few tracks "Ghetto", "I Won't Run" & "Courage" delivers some interesting indifferences to that of the Nu Metal era. Showcasing musicianship of intentional brutality; balancing Alternative/Metalcore/Hardcore/Punk elements into one gargantuan product. It's safe to say that if this groovy heavy-hitter doesn't motivate you; then there's something wrong with you.
Consisting of Jorge Rosado on vocals, who implements an adverse array of complex cords; grunting his way through with energetic precision. The powerhouse of Anders Löwgren on drums and Daniel Cederborg on bass contribute elegantly well to the sound production; sounding crystal clear and pummeling with power. Daniel Antonsson on guitars executes with dexterous riffing; efficiently excelling his way through to glory. Each member showcases a distinct flair of unique musicianship and enticingly diverse instrumentation that makes me want to get straight into the mosh pit, and thrash my way through with power. "Through My Darkest Infernal" ranges at around 39:14 and while the songs are sometimes less than 2 minutes long; it's a very extensive album and evidently fulfilling, having an immoderate sense of replay value that will leave you wanting a whole lot more.
"Ghetto", "I Won't Run" & "Courage" kicks off the album with a recorded segment of a speech; with repeated ringing of a chord, channeling into an pile-driven shouting vocals with some favorable, compelling riffs. "Save God", "Love" & Bloodlust" offer more insatiable bombardment through the speakers giving minimal respite to recover the sensational musicianship AKANI are delivering here. "Temple Of Lies", "Warrior Of Truth" & the titular track "Through My Darkest Infernal" joints in with an impressive bounce effect; sounding unparalleled at first glance. An alternative sound plagues this portion of the disc; inviting with an atmospheric guitar motif with an alluring string section to boot. "Shango", "Know My Name" & "Lost" favor in more profusely steam in proficient fashion, transcending at a frenzy of formulaic and pummeling Metal.
Overall - "Pure And Free" & "New World" conclude the disc with cohesive foundation. The amalgamation of AKANI spreads with their varying styles excelling at a finely crafted hardcore album. The band has outdone themselves with their 1st record attempt. Check it out via Bandcamp.<
