AHTME (formerly known as THE ROMAN HOLIDAY) are another Unique Leader Death Metal group from Missouri, occasionally incorporating and leaning towards elements of Technical Death Metal in their sound, which is clearly and definitely present on their upcoming effort, "Sewerborn". From the moment the instruments come in on the opening track, "Lord of Shit" (sounds sophisticated) until the last note, I can 100% say that the best aspect of the album is easily the guitar/drum dynamics that basically carry the whole thing, the way they're mixed (and I mean that both in a writing and production sense) really breathes life into the grooves and acts as the source for the record's fun and enjoyability. However, that constistency isn't true for everything here, and even where it is, that's not necessarily a good thing. Let me elaborate.

The entirety of this 49 minute album was written and produced with the same formula in mind (Except for the short interlude, "Sea of Sand"), and (no shit) that kind of makes for a boring front-to-back listen. On my second journey through "Sewerborn", I listened to only half of it, and then the next day, I listened to the other half. In that way, it was a reasonably enjoyable experience, but I wouldn't recommend a full one time listen. Speaking of the album's time issues, minus 5-10 minutes wouldn't have hurt the effort's „momentum", you could say. Aaaand that pretty much wraps up everything that I can say about the album. Solid effort, it is, but the group needs to mature a lot, that's for sure. I advise you guys to experiment more within the Death Metal umbrella. You could try bringing in Melodeath, Core, or even some Blackened elements into your music, just slightly and subtly, you know. Nonetheless, this is still a solid album. I'd give it a 6,5, but I can't do that unfortunately.
