Aherusia - And The Tides Shall Reveal The Traces album cover

Even though this band exists for over a decade (including a short pause during 2000-2004), this is their first ever full-length work. The only thing they had released before "And The Tides Shall Reveal The Traces" was an EP in 1999 entitled "Whispers Of Moon". For their debut album, the band entered Devasound Studio with DESCENDING's Jon Simvonis as a sound engineer and with ROTTING CHRIST's Sakis Tolis taking on the mixing/mastering duties.

AHERUSIA is a melodic Black Metal band, "adopting" a more symphonic approach with some slight traditional Greek elements like the Cretan lyra that is actually what makes their sound somehow different. With obvious influences from ROTTING CHRIST, the Greek act mixes its melodic Black Metal with some even Goth melodies and surrounds each composition in an epic atmosphere. So far, so good, but from the very first time someone listens to the entire album he will come across some problems, which are for example the singer's pronunciation that definitely needs some extra work and the songs that sometimes end up sounding similar.

I don't know what many people think about this effort, but AHERUSIA is not a shitty band or something. These guys just need to work a bit more on creating a more personal sound (the ROTTING CHRIST problem mentioned above), as well as on the song ideas and structures, in order to present a more solid release in the future.
