With the ex-members of the band GRAVE RITUAL, Louisiana bred another disgusting, evil, grotesque band - ABYSMAL LORD.

Immediately noticeable, the band influences themselves off of Doom, Sludge, and Black Metal. It's a recipe that has worked many times before and will continue in the future. I don't think ABYSMAL LORD pull it off as well as they could have with "Storms of Unholy Black Mass".

It doesn't necessarily mean that the album isn't well executed because it is, it just means to say that personally, I don't think the band have delivered as much excellence as what they are capable of. Despite being a cracker of a record and something to get angry too, it oozes with just how much better it could be and in a sense, it's annoying because you can hear that the band could do better.

The album is a chicken in the middle of the road for me, determining how to get to the better side. If ABYSMAL LORD carry on the way they are then it is sure to say that they will hit the level of brilliance they know they can be and how we know they can be too.

Sadly, the album hasn't worked 100% for me, but I expect good (well, evil things actually) to come from ABYSMAL LORD in the future, we all know they can do it.
