ABRAHMA is the new name for the French band ALCOHSONIC that was formed in 2005. They've released albums under that name, but as ABRAHMA they released their debut album "Through The Dusty Paths Of Our Lives" through Small Stone Records. A Hard Rock album with dragging crunchy and rock and roll influences.
Have lived and loved the crunch time and like the crunchy parts on ABRAHMA's debut album "Through The Dusty Paths Of Our Lives", but also miss a solid ground to carry the sound. Like separate elements wondering around, searching for a sound that can carry their weight together. Able to reach out for each other, but somehow not linking as a matching team, even though some parts of the album are close to a perfect match. For a debut album that's not strange, but guess I didn't expect it this much from a band that did release albums before. Looks like they've started all over again on several levels and not just regarding their name.
Not that the album "Through The Dusty Paths Of Our Lives" sounds like a bunch of idiots who don't know what they're doing, in the contrary, they sound like they're after a certain sound, but not have figured out how to reach that sound in a solid way all together yet. I can hear that they are skilled players and that they've got experience, but somehow I do miss the power and the energy that makes them hold water and stand, despite the huge potential that does shine through too.
"Through The Dusty Paths Of Our Lives" does include a vocalist I do like and guitars, bass and drum lines do manage to put down a dragging atmosphere, but sadly enough it does sound overall a bit messy in a way that makes the album lose power and energy that has been put inside. But maybe that was their intension to create an out of space sound, I don't know. I believe that they do have a lot more in store than shows on their album "Through The Dusty Paths Of Our Lives".
ABRAHMA does sound different from ALCOHSONIC, like they've changed their sound together with their name.
