The Quitude Plains
Ablaze In Hatred

September 3, 2009
ABLAZE IN HATRED was created in 2004 in Helsinki by Juhanni Sanna and Mika Ikonen and their mutual desire to creat dark, slow and atmospheric music. In 2005 drummer Antti Hakkala (SEARING MEADOW) and bassist Miska Lehtivuori (FALL OF THE LEAFE) joined the band and in summer they went to the studio to record their first promo CD called Closure Of Life. October 2005 the band signed a deal with Firebox Records and in October 2006 they released their debut album, titled as Deceptive Awareness. The Quietude Plains is the second full length album of the band released by Firebox Records. The album was recorded and mixed by Kari Nieminen at Noisecamp Studio A in Summer 2008.
From the first audition of The Quietude Plains, the album illustrates what the band is about: Dark, melancholic tunes and low grunts create the gloomy atmosphere which is the very essence of ABLAZE IN HATRED. The tunes are mostly slow and that rhythmic pattern of the songs does not change dramatically. Slow drumming, depressive melodies from the keyboards and mourning guitar melodies synthesize the picture of the wintry and brumous landscapes of Finland. Mika Ikonen's growls come from deep within and bring shivers. Some songs remind a bit of DRACONIAN and SHAPE OF DESPAIR when it comes to the slow, doom tempos and the vocals. The cold and dark atmosphere does not change throughout the album. If you are a doom Metal fan this album will be your company on the dark nights of the upcoming winter. From January 21st, 2010 The Quietude Plains will also be available in a special 2-CD slipcase version (limited to 1000 copies).
