What's up, Metal maniacs? I'm here once again to give you an insight on this American quintet who plays top notch Thrash Metal: ABIOTX.

As stated on their Facebook page; "bored with the bland and oversaturated wave of 90's street punk, the band ABIOTX formed in November of 2000 to take a heavier approach". While I wasn't ultimately a music fan back then; as I must have been about 10-11? ...I can see this being a problem for the thrashers as Nu-Metal began to pave the way for people to hype up as the next best thing in Metal; while I appreciate acts like SLIPKNOT, I feel they're far too overrated just because they're the gateway of Nu-Metal. I personally found Nu-Metal most definitely oversaturated around this era, making it difficult for thrashers like ABIOTX to gather fans because people just wouldn't open their minds to such awesome bands.

Heck, maybe that's just my opinion? Maybe you do like bands like ABIOTX? From what I've listened to with their new album, "Liquid Damage", I hear a band that wants to revive the hype that was Thrash Metal back in the 80s. Never say die, as Thrash Metal will forever be alive wherever you like that ideology or not, it's here to stay, and it's stronger than ever.

ABIOTX released their debut album: "Straight To Hell" in 2011, and "Liquid Damage" in 2015.

As a thrasher myself; I crave for a sound that's similar to legendary acts like: DARK ANGEL, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, MUNICIPAL WASTE, OVERKILL, SEPULTURA, TESTAMENT, ANTHRAX, MEGADETH, SLAYER, EXODUS and so on...Thrash Metal was one of the leading genres in Metal after music began "Heavy" with BLACK SABBATH, JUDAS PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN for example...it's a household genre for Metal and it's brilliant in many ways. ABIOTX are no exception; it pleases me that aside from the greats of Thrash, we have underground bands willing to prove that this point is genuine and should never be overlooked upon.

So, with that history lesson out of the way...it's time to jam the album: "Liquid Damage". It's a typical Thrash album that has the instrumentality of one and just musical genius on the other hand. Alexander Lewis performs on his thrashing guitar; also on vocals. Then we have a pounding powerhouse that is: Chase Hauser on his bass guitar with an additional background vocal performance, as well as Jimmy Luna on percussion. Alexander has vocals that are well suited for Thrash Metal and plays guitar very well as a fellow thrasher. The title track "Liquid Damage" is a typical thrasher that's fast and furious...pure rage in other words. Now this is hype.

Entering with a slowed-down tempo with "A Pathway To Obscurities", the hype continues to build up again with "Wanted Dead", with a "heavier" sounding beat that unleashed my signature "brutal face of approval" and just makes me thrash like a nut. This pretty much has the same value in "Libertines & Laments" and "She Wolf", " a MEGADETH cover you might wonder? Nope, though the song is just as good as their own "She-Wolf". ABIOTX means business and they're here to thrash you about. "Liquid Damage" is a short but sweet album; but it's easily repeated, enjoyably. "See Through My Eyes" has a notably pounding bass introduction and dark vocal ranges while keeping the thrash value intact. "Devoid Of Life" and "The Unrest" end the album in an atmospherically, great Metal fashion.

"Liquid Damage" is a perfect Thrash Metal pounder; I had a great time blasting it out, if you love your old METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX - then ABIOTX are simply for you. Check them out for the love of Metal!<
