During the New Lennox, IL summer festivities and the '2nd Annual Summer Triple Play 2010', we found out that the American rock veterans SURVIVOR would perform in the middle of August in a small village and we couldn't miss it for nothing! So, we got our camera and some cool refreshments for the road and there we were on the road to watch SURVIVOR that would step on-stage at 9.00 pm with their remarkable glory from the 80s also known from the "Rocky III" OST.

The road trip till New Lennox was marvelous and the weather was pretty awesome for a ride, so we took the chance to wonder in the middle of the all green forests and the huge highways at the Chicago suburbs. The festival's parking was almost full when we arrived but after a short search we were right on time to watch the SURVIVOR opening. Thank God, there was a lot of space in the front lines where people and their families were chit-chatting before the gig. The time clocked 9 sharp when Mr. Robin McAuley and the boys appeared in front of 600+ guests that came to have some fun with their families and deluge that beautiful open-air place in the middle of the New Lennox village. Frankie Sullivan was the only original member of the SURVIVOR line-up and it was quite obvious that attracted all the looks on him with his heart-breaking guitar work.

The party got started with "Can't Give It Up" and people from all the ages started to yell and scream welcoming SURVIVOR with the highest mood. The band seemed to be in a great shape with McAuley's voice assorted being so loud and sensual, a fact that in the following all-time classic "Burning Heart" gave us the rhythm to clap loud for the next 80 minutes. Mitchell Sigman and Billy Ozzello were the youngest of the American rock company and did an excellent job in keyboards and bass respectively, when Marc Droubay was the other veteran sitting behind the drum kit. All the members of the quintet were performing as some raving teenagers and everybody was enjoying the show; the evening was hot but wonderful because of that frequent soft breeze that kept on visiting us from time to time.

With no doubt, "Summers Nights" and "Rockin' Into The Night" were the highlights of the concert, gaining the most of our applause, while "Somewhere In America" spread that traveling sense everywhere with us dancing and singing without pause. You see, SURVIVOR were playing live in their homeland and that was quite special for everyone that was there that night that ended with a 10 minutes version of the blow-minding "Eye Of The Tiger". Sullivan stepped down the stage and greeted everyone's in the first rows while McAulay did not stop singing and dancing at the same time, making all of us to follow his lead. So, after one hour and 20 minutes the band thanked everyone –who wanted more– and went backstage, leaving us with so many beautiful memories from the 80s, adding one more with that night…
