I don't know if it should be called ironic or typically Bollnas. To start with, INMORIA had only rehearsed 4 songs for this event. Very thin you might think but ok, since it was a release party for their debut album Invisible Wounds and perhaps the gig isn't the most important thing though. But when both the T-shirts and CD's were delayed it felt little like a parody, so there was nothing to shop either. Then it was only the party left and at least that was a really good one. Still, I can't say I'm surprised, this seems to be more standard than exception (not only in Bollnas though); that their record company didn't manage to ship the merchandise in time INMORIA can't be blamed for, but come on... They could have learned a little more than 4 songs.
Still, in true Bollnas-tradition, the little there were was damn good instead. The samples put on Myspace did not at all give a justified picture, not that strange since it wasn't the final mixes. The style INMORIA delivered isn't very common. Sure, the arrangements with heavy guitars and the keyboard make the music very modern, but live the feeling was a lot more Old School and that is beneficial for my taste at least. But the point is that the balance between new and old made it all very interesting and creative. Chulle (Charles Rytkonen, MORGANA LEFAY) is very charismatic and INMORIA's dark music suites him like glove. He always has a lot of character but with the combination of keyboards and heavy guitars his voice sounded even more special. With this type of modern sound bands nowadays normally choose a more harsh vocal style combined with some softer and clean vocal lines, normally sung by more than one singer though. INMORIA has both characters too but all in Chulle and he holds so much higher standard by himself than all the rest together.
Of course, there are traces in INMORIA's music from the members other bands and style-wise it's not that far from it. One fair question could be if this really was a necessary project. Shouldn't at least Christer Krunt Andersson, Tommi Karpanen and Peter Morιn focus on TAD MOROSE (Krunt's and Peter's regular band) instead? But since this is Dan Eriksson's band (also with a history in TAD MOROSE), let's hope INMORIA boosts the inspiration for them. The short taste served, just over 20 minutes sure fed the urge for more and INMORIA is absolutely Bollnas-Metal standard and a name to look out for in the future.
