"What have we been waiting for?" Chris Jericho asks the crowd in Leeds on a very cold Sunday night. It's been 6 years since FOZZY first toured the UK, but they have only just come to this northern city. The crowd tonight have certainly made sure to give the band a particularly warm welcome, hopefully inspiring them to return.

FOZZY have three bands supporting them on this tour – SENZAFINE, VERSES, and JETTBLACK. SENZAFINE were on stage first. They're a Metal band from Glasgow, Scotland, and are releasing their debut album this month. They've got good stage presence, and interact with the crowd well. The lead singer, Graeme Humphrey, has a great voice, and the band are all talented musicians. Their style of in your face, no holds barred Metal is great live, and they really left an impression on me. VERSES were on next, and they have a different sound to the other bands on the tour, but that's certainly not a bad thing.

They're a four-piece rock band, and have some very catchy songs. My personal favourite out of their set list was "Last Night In History", a song that's basically about enjoying yourself as much as possible. I think this band has a bright future ahead of them. JETTBLACK were the most well known of the support bands, and they were the ones who really got the crowd pumped up. They cite their influences as 'anything up until about 1994', and this produces a set list that the fans can really get their teeth into. JETTBLACK have got great stage presence and charisma, and the duelling guitar battle of Will Stapleton andJon Dow was excellent to see.

So, to the main event. FOZZY burst onto the stage to the opening track "Paraskavedekatriaphobia (Friday The 13th)" and the crowd exploded. Now, The Well isn't a huge place (maximum capacity is just under 400), but it might as well have been Wembley with the atmosphere, and the noise coming from the fans. Chris Jericho is one of the most charismatic and energetic frontmen I've ever laid eyes on. He had every single person in that room in the palm of his hand, getting us to pump our fists and shout at the top of our lungs to the 'Hey! Hey! Hey!' and 'One! Two! Three!' of "God Pounds His Nails". He even got the crowd swaying at one point, and everyone had their arms in the air for that. But the highlight of my night was during "Wanderlust" when Jericho held his microphone over the crowd, and we all sang the chorus, without any backing from the band.

It's testament to the band's effect on the band that during various times of the night, 'FOZZY! FOZZY!' chants would break out. Near the end of the set, we were chanting for 'ten more songs!'. FOZZY came back on stage, and gave us "Enemy", a fan favourite. This only paved the way to chants for 'nine more songs!'. Unfortunately, FOZZY couldn't have stayed on stage until early the next morning, even if that's what the crowd wanted to see.

So I think the answer to Jericho's question is "Yeah, what the heck were you waiting for?". Their show was just immense, everything clicked, and the crowd (myself included) loved every second of it, without a doubt. This is what seeing a band live is all about – being caught up in the moment, forgetting everything else, and rocking out to awesome music. Let's hope the crowd's enthusiastic response to their Leeds debut will encourage them to visit us again, and soon.
