Completing their tours in Europe and across Canada earlier this year in support of their latest release "Eidolon", New Brunswick's ECMA nominees and Music NB award winning mantra doom duo ZAUM announce they will be embarking a special December tour of the Canadian East coast entitled "The Ritual Experience" (dates listed below). The Maritime dates will showcase four exceptional events where the doom duo of Kyle Alexander McDonald (Bass/Vocals/Synth/Textures) plus Christopher Lewis (Drums/Percussion) will perform as one on stage with experimental violinist Olive Bestvater of Saskatoon, SK doomgaze band BLACK TREMOR and classically trained woodwind artisan Ricky Frenette (both of whom performed on ZAUM's "Eidolon") along with experimental projections artist Jamie McEwan and Nawal Doucette, an award winning contemporary Middle Eastern dance artist who performs finger cymbals (zils) and specializes in Salimpour belly dance.

ZAUM's Kyle Alexander McDonald comments:

"It will actually have actually been 1.5 years since we last played a show in the Maritimes, which is of course where we call home. Since we tour internationally as often as we do, a few years ago we made a point to not play around home as often a band typically would since we like to get in as much work and relaxation as possible while back home. People have been asking forever when we plan to play here next and jokingly criticized us for playing even regions like Eastern Europe more frequently than we do here. As such, its been a long time coming and people have been patient ' so we thought it would be fitting to roll out some special shows and have a few of the guests who played additional instrumentation on our latest album Eidolon to actually perform it and some of our past material live with us.

We're incredibly fortunate to have both violinist/vocalist Olive Bestvater of Saskatoon based doomgaze band Black Tremor and Moncton based woodwind scholar Ricky Frenette join ZAUM during this period. Additionally, a Saint John based friend of mine Nawal Doucette is a surreal award winning contemporary Middle Eastern dance artist and instructor who a couple years back had expressed a shared interest in performing with us in the future if schedules could align. She'd been a fan of the band for some time and hit me with this idea to create this ritual-esque sort of performance to accompany some Maritime shows, which beautifully fit the dream experience I had in mind. She'd worked in the past with Moncton based experimental projectionist Jamie McEwan, and introduced him as the final piece of the equation. From there we laid the foundation for "ZAUM : A Ritual Experience" to come to fruition this December for these 4 sweet 60-90 minute intimate late evening shows."

"ZAUM blends several moods into a really attractive, cohesive work that not only pays off, but also distances them from Om, creating for themselves a sphere of their own." -Sputnik Music

"a new level of headphone-ready, open-consciousness expanse. Nothing matters. Give up your expectations. Quit your job and move to the forest. Build a temple by a river and spend your days naming the gods who live in the trees around you." -The Obelisk

"Their sound encompasses the enormity of the likes of Sleep and Om, yet works in a mysticism that's haunting and ethereal. The 40 minute span of this release is a sitar driven daydream that carries the gravitational force of tectonic plates shifting." -Iron Fist

"Hold onto your bong, ponder those scraps of eastern philosophy you've picked up watching Kung Fu films from the 1970s, and prepare to escape from Samsara." -Ave Noctum

"Consists of dread and a haunting sensation to glimmers of hope, but mostly dreadful darkness. ZAUM cast their own dark shadow, one I don't mind being consumed by." ' Bucketlist Music Review (10/10)

"Few bands can touch the New Brunswick doom duo in terms of sheer hypnotic atmosphere. Eidolon sees them go further down their singular path into the heavy unknown. Prepare to be transported to a higher realm." -The Sludgelord

"Simply put, ZAUM is an 11/10. To my fellow people: go home and lay down."- Don L'Orange, -Weird Canada
