VOICES have today announced details of their new album, titled FRIGHTENED, which will be released via Candlelight/ Spinefarm on April 27, 2018. The 11-track album is their third studio release, and continues to be sonically confrontational, in true VOICES style.
To coincide with this announcement, the band have released the track Dead Feelings which is streaming now across all digital platforms. Dead Feelings is also available as an instant download with digital pre-orders of FRIGHTENED.
Guitarist, Sam Loynes, commented:
"'FRIGHTENED has been another labour of love but once we heard the finished product it all made sense. We have always wanted to listen music like this and it has taken us to do it ourselves before we could. As romantic as it is riddled with despair, we have brought FRIGHTENED into the world... for those that can bear the cross.'
The follow up to 2014's critically acclaimed album, London, FRIGHTENED retains the trademark VOICES epic cinematic feel, but pushes existing boundaries even further. Influences such as Joy Division and Bauhaus ooze through the band's apocalyptic vision. If London was a feverish nightmare then FRIGHTENED is more of a lucid dream. FRIGHTENED is an album for those struggling to find their own place in the fluctuating world; falling back on the things humans reside more comfortably in, such as love, pain, art and death.
VOICES collaborated with Steve Long at The Hunter Club Studios in Bury St. Edmunds in March of 2017 to create FRIGHTENED. Bringing in an outside perspective for the first time, enabled the band to fully indulge in the creativity attached to the process and Steve's personal interpretation of the material had a lasting affect on the direction of their newly formed sound.
