Upanishad was created in 2000 with Vanni Raul Bagaladi (Voice and guitar), Lapo Zini (Drums), Filippo Tatini (Guitar) and Martina Biagi (Bass). At the early age of 15 the group began creating their own style of punk/rock that they performed in local pubs and venues. After the recording of their first EP they found themselves improving their skills around the the rock/punk/indie scene. Soon they began taking part in local and national music contests, winning acclaim and notoriety.
During 2006, Niccolò Ridi replaces Martina Biagi bringing in a new flavor of progressive rock updating Upanishad's already complex sound. New original material was created which lead to a wider audience where they found approval on the diverse stages of Flog, Cencio's, Tenax, Keller's, Cpa, Next Emerson and more. Emergenza Rock one of the most important rock contest accepted them as a contestant and they were able to gain more success finally winning a chance to record a professional EP. Radio stations Novaradio and Controradio played their songs and the band was interviewed leading to more gigs around the country in Milano, Roma, Torino, Perugia and others. Fanzines and blogs begin to write favorable reviews presenting the band as an original quality and power project.
Then in 2010 after ten years of laborious passion Upanishad began to put the money earned from touring into a full album. Unfortunately during this time Niccolò Ridi and Filippo Tatini decide to leave the band. For two years Upanishad was dormant until 2012 when Vanni Raul Bagaladi and Lapo Zini took up the torch and decided to bring the project back to life. With the help of Mirko Bazzocchi they began composing new songs that had a different style, more psychedelic, mature and complex in its content. This caught the attention of Boomker Sound Studio who decided to sponsor the group producing a live recording in 2015 and securing concerts in small musical festivals. This lead to a partnership that blossomed resulting in a debut album in 2017 soon to be released in the beginning of 2019.
