Temples on Mars are all philanthropic individuals, all contributing their time and efforts to varying works of charity. The frontman James does Movember every year, with the aim to assist in promoting further awareness of male mental health. The ongoing themes for some of the tracks on this album are linked to a devastating event that occurred in James's life not too long ago. His best man and long time friend committed suicide following an ongoing struggle with a multiplicity of mental health issues. He relocated back to New Zealand after having tried to make life work in London, but seemingly no matter where he was on this Earth, his demons followed him.

The works of 'Suicide by Tiger', 'Dining with the Devil' and 'Death in the Afternoon' all promote the allegorical meaning of life's struggles, no matter where you are in the universe. The idea behind the lyrical content extends to the band's beliefs that no matter who you are, where you are from, there are adversities to be had. What would aliens think if they came to Earth and saw how we lived? What would we think if we went to Mars and saw how they lived there? Are there sentient beings on Mars, do they suffer as we do? Temples on Mars explore these questions within their debut opus.

The name Temples on Mars was inspired by advanced ancient hieroglyphs, which were supposedly created with the assistance of extraterrestrial beings, who helped to develop ancient Earth civilisations. These same beings are theoretically linked with the creation of structures and temples on the surface of Mars.

The band's former projects from the outer edges of Planet Earth (New Zealand, South Africa, UK) have collated a formidable track record of achievements between them, having performed at the likes of Download Festival, HRH Ibiza, HRH Prog and Hammerfest, plus sharing the stage with Skindred, Ill Nino, Voyager, Devil Sold His Soul and more. Media such as Metal Hammer, Prog, the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show and more have supported the band members' past endeavours and Temples on Mars hopes to continue making their mark with the aforementioned tastemakers of the rock scene.
