In short time WAX MANIAX has earned a reputation among die- hard fans and record collectors alike for its comprehensive, archival precision in reissuing the revered works by some of metal's foremost underground torchbearers - however, today WAX MANIAX is pleased to announce that old school will become new school with the signing of SIGN OF THE JACKAL. The Italian based, female fronted metal powerhouse is teaming up with WAX MANIAX to release their second full length album, Breaking the Spell, on May 25th.
In the cold of winter 2007 in Rovereto, Italy four friends brought together by a mutual passion for classic heavy metal and cult horror movies laid the groundwork for SIGN OF THE JACKAL. Taking cues from such titans of metal as Acid, Warlock, Messiah Force, and Black Knight, began to hone its live show and created a buzz amongst the European metal underground. This buzz caught the attention of Heavy Artillery Records whom in 2009 released their chilling Haunted House Tapes 7 inch EP, which was followed by the release of the 2011 maxi-EP The Beyond. In support of The Beyond, which held on to the top spot of CMJ's Loud Rock Top Ten Chart for several weeks, SIGN OF THE JACKAL played several European metal festivals in Spain, Austria and most notably Germany's legendary Keep It True festival. Building on this excitement in 2013 SIGN OF THE JACKAL released the full length album Mark of the Beast, on High Roller Records to much acclaim among the heavy metal and fanzine faithful. Subsequently, the band spent the following two years promoting Mark of the Beast with tour and festival appearances all over Europe before dealing with lineup changes and finishing the material that would comprise their brand new full length album, Breaking the Spell. Continuing in the tradition of meshing together traditional heavy metal sounds and horror film imagery, SIGN OF THE JACKAL are back to take the metal world by storm with the release of Breaking the Spell available worldwide May 25th.
