Brit thrashers, SHRAPNEL, have confirmed details of their upcoming second full length album. Titled Raised on Decay, the 11-track adrenaline-soaked beast will be released on September 29 via Candlelight/ Spinefarm.
Honing in their storytelling skills - and drawing inspiration from sources such as HP Lovecraft and King Diamond - has done nothing to diminish the sheer face-melting ferocity of their uncompromising, pure-to-the-bone thrash and speed metal. This five-man wrecking crew have stayed true to their thrash roots, but in the years since their 2014 release, The Virus Conspires, they have gained the confidence and experience to write more progressively, incorporating their love of death metal and traditional heavy metal.
The band comment:
"The album is by far the most extreme sounding record we have made. Everything has been stepped up in terms of songwriting, ability, and aggression. We wanted this one to stand out, and I think we have achieved that. We wanted to bring something impressive to the table."
Returning once again to Parlour Studios with esteemed producer, Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Evile, Lock Up) at the helm, SHRAPNEL were able to give the songs they'd penned back in 2015 the attention they truly deserved. The result is a thrilling lesson in neck-wrecking sonic violence.
The final touches come courtesy of album artwork by Eliran Kantor; the now legendary artist providing external aesthetics that reflect the brooding restlessness contained within.
