Shadow Woods Productions, LLC, a Maryland event production organization responsible for the annual Shadow Woods Metal Fest, today announced the launch of the Shadow Frost Music & Arts Festival, a two-day indoor concert of heavy metal, punk, and industrial bands in Frederick, MD. Shadow Frost will take place on February 21st starting at 4 PM and February 22nd starting at noon at the Clarion Inn Frederick Event Center.
Shadow Frost will welcome notable acts from across the country, such as death metal group Vastum from Oakland, CA, prog-psych rock from Vermont's Barishi, Boston's metal traditionalists Magic Circle, and doom/stoner metal trio Doomstress from Houston, TX. Show organizer M A Spiro also wanted to ensure that various artists from the local music scene were strongly represented. Several Baltimore groups are scheduled to play throughout the weekend, including heavy psych throwbacks Alms, punk/grindcore Infinite Pizza, and experimental psych rockers Darsombra. Others from around the Delmarva area such as up-and-comers Yatra from the Eastern Shore, Spiral Grave (featuring members from Maryland doom metal godfathers Iron Man and Lord), Radamanthys from Gaithersburg, and legendary Virginia thrash metal group Deceased are also scheduled.
"There is so much great music being created that totally flies under the radar in the music scene, even among people who seem to know a lot about music trends," said Shadow Frost producer M A Spiro. "I am not trying to host bands that you can see at a lot of other festivals, but I want to showcase a few of the best that that underground music has to offer. That has been my philosophy with every event I have done, and I don't plan to change that."
While other extended heavy metal concerts have taken place in Frederick - most notably the Maryland Doom Fest - Shadow Frost will be the first of its kind to scratch the live music itch of local fans during the winter months, and also the first to be entirely centralized at a local hotel, providing more of a convention atmosphere than a traditional concert. The event space at the Clarion Inn will provide unique opportunities for attendees to mingle, as well as enjoy amenities such as an indoor pool and game room, a tavern serving traditional pub fare, and free breakfast every morning. Shadow Frost will also host arts and music vendors, workshops, Saturday morning yoga, table games, and other activities.
Tickets to Shadow Woods are $30 for the Friday show, $60 for Saturday, $89 for a full weekend pass, and are available at shadowfrost2020.eventbrite.com. Shadow Frost is an all-ages event and underage tickets (ages 5-17) will be available at the door with a paid parent or guardian on-premises.
