On Friday, October 30, after a fire broke out at the Colectiv nightclub in Bucharest, more than 30 people lost their lives and about 150 were wounded (more than 80 of them are still in critical condition). The tragedy occurred during the release party for the new album by Goodbye to Gravity, a very promising rock band that recently signed with Universal Music Romania. Among the victims there are also many musicians, journalists and other rock scene professionals.

A number of people among those present proved to be genuine heroes, some of them losing their own lives while trying to save others. For example, Adrian Rugină (a known sound engineer in Romania) and Claudiu Petre (blogger and photographer, Mahmur.info) went back into the burning club several times to get the injured out, but unfortunately did not survive. Popovici
Pavlos Gabriel and Laurentiu Costache, two 15 year-old fans who took their disabled friend to the show, are another example. They managed to save their friend, but suffered serious burns in the process, and remain in hospital in critical condition.

This tragic event prompted an outpouring of public emotion in Romania, and mobilization has been impressive. However, given the terrible consequences of the fire, medical costs are extremely high as the treatment for only one patient would cost between 500,000 and 1,000,000 euros. And this is only one aspect of the support needed for the survivors and the victims' families.

At this point, there are several ongoing donation campaigns. We advice you to contribute here:
