RENAISSANCE OF FOOLS: Set to release new album 'Spring' on auguts 21st
July 11, 2015
Hailing from Falun, Sweden, Progressive Rock outfit Renaissance of Fools is preparing for the North American release of their follow up to 2011's debut Hope, Fear and Frustration album with a collection of eight new tracks.
The forthcoming album titled, Spring, will arrive on store shelves in North America August 21st via Metalville Records.
Founded by former guitarist and composer of Pain of Salvation, Daniel Magdic, and drummer Magnus Karlsson (ex Leech/Machina), the current line up is rounded out by bassist Linus Carlsson (Kamchatka), and vocalist David Engström (Silent Nation).
The music that Renaissance of Fools creates is inspired by classic seminal acts such as Black Sabbath, King's X, Rush, King Crimson, to the more contemporary sounds of Tool, Porcupine Tree, and Mars Volta.
The underlying theme on Spring is about the Arab Spring revolution that began in 2010 in Tunisia and spread to Egypt and other Arab and Northern Africa nations. The four tracks deal with different perspectives of the conflict.
"The sound on this album is more organic - smooth with a groove, but yet heavy. This is what Renaissance of Fools was supposed to sound like," says Magdic.
In order to achieve this sound, Karlsson and Magdic felt the need to make some changes and brought in Engström on vocals and Carlsson (Kamchatka) on bass. With this new line up Renaissance of Fools finally sound as they were supposed to do!
Spring Tracklisting:
1. Counting Down
2. Internal Carousel
3. Scars
4. Spring: Prelude
5. Spring: On Your Knees
6. Spring: State Of Oppression
7. Spring: Revolution

More on Renaissance of Fools:
It all begun with a meeting of two musicians who found that they shared the same musical vision. Those two were Daniel Magdic, who has a background as guitarist and composer of Pain of Salvation, and Magnus Karlsson. They teamed up with BjörnTauman and Mathias Henrysson to start the band Cudfish.
Cudfish was put to the grave when Magnus and Björn went to Los Angeles to study at LAMA (Los Angeles Music Academy). When they got back from Los Angeles Daniel, Magnus and Björn decided to pick up the work and started Renaissance of Fools. They started to rehearse and write songs, but at the time they didn't have a singer.
In 2008 they met the very talented singer Kjell Bergendahl and the line-up was complete. They soon started recording their debut album Hope, Fear and Frustration which was mixed by PelleSaether in Studio Underground. The mix was then sent to Alien Beans studio in USA where it was mastered by Ty Tabor of Kings X. The album also contains a guest appearance by Per Wiberg from Opeth.
