RED FANG have been confirmed to play Reading and Leeds festivals in the UK this August bank holiday weekend.

The Portland quartet will join the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Paramore and Jimmy Eat World on the three-day, two-site festival. RED FANG will perform on the NME/BBC Radio 1 stage in Reading on Friday 22nd August, and Leeds on Saturday 23rd August.

Bassist and vocalist, Aaron Beam, commented:
"In an effort to increase the likelihood of being invited to play this incredibly huge, important, & prestigious festival, we initially titled our record 'Reading and Leeds.' Realizing that might be a bit too pandering, we made a last minute, subtle change to 'Whales and Leeches.' I am happy to see that the original intent was still perceived, and it worked!"

Guitarist and vocalist, Bryan Giles, added:
"We are very excited to be playing Reading and Leeds festivals this summer! Reading is the longest standing hard rock fest going, with a long line of incredible bands we are flattered to be counted among. I sincerely hope we won't be "bottled off". See you there party people!"

The announcement follows nine months of near-constant touring in support of their latest album, Whales and Leeches, which was released via Relapse Records last October. The eleven-song album quickly became the band's best-selling and most critically acclaimed release to date. Kerrang! described the album as "music with brains and bite" whilst Terrorizer accurately surmised that Whales and Leeches was "a concrete solid set of infectious and hook-driven heavy rock that could see them breaking out to whole new audiences." The Oregon-based outfit performed the single Blood Like Cream, - which Spin called "a gruff, flesh-hungry challenge to Queen of the Stone Age's throne," - on The Late Show with David Letterman in January
