Randy Rampage: D.O.A. founder and Annihilator's original singer passes away at 58 years old

Bassist Randy "Rampage"Desmond Archibald, who isbest known for founding the legendary hardcore punk band D.O.A. and also being one of the lead singer for the Canadian heavy-thrash metal band Annihilator-has just passed away at age 58, due to a heart attack. Before his passing, the musician was working with the creators of Bloodied But Unbowed, a new documentary retelling Vancouver's punk scene from the late 1970s.

In a statement posted to Facebook, the documentary's producers confirmed that Archibald died on August 14th:

"Dear friends,

Tonight sometime after 7pm Randy Rampage left us to reign in the heavens. A punk legend has moved on. And because he shared himself with you, please share a moment and think of Randy Desmond Archibald aka Rampage.

We love you Randy."

He was among one of the founding members of D.O.A. alongside Joey "Shithead" Keithley and Chuck Biscuits. He played on the band's first two albums, 1980's "Something Better Change" and the following year's "Hardcore '81" before being forced out of the band in 1982. He came back periodically to the group, his final collaboration being from 2006 to 2009.

Archibald was also the singer on Annhilator's classic debut album called "Alice in Hell"; the album was released in 1989. Unfortunately, he departed from the band shortly thereafter, but we would later return to sing on their 1999 album "Criteria for a Black Widow".
