MIDNIGHT CAINE was formed in 2006/2007, consisting of only two people, Fredrik Andrén (vocals) and Joakim Galle (bass). After three albums, line-up changes and a lot of touring in Europe, the core of the band now consists of Fredrik Andrén (vocalist and only remaining founding member), Henrik Trollvad (bass) and Rudy Weisser (drums).
Until now MIDNIGHT CAINE was a Gothic Rock band struggling with multiple lineup changes. The three members, three lost souls unsure of where to go suddenly took a different musical and spiritual journey that would lead them on a much darker path.
It all started with one song. Fredrik Andrén, the bands main song writer had been revisiting his roots in old-school Heavy Metal and Rock. In doing so a sudden darkness came over him. In this darkness there was a presence like from another world. This did not frighten him and instead he welcomed this presence and started to listen what it had to say. Inspired by this the music started flowing through and took a darker and more forbidden direction. In presence of the other band members the dark visitors presence became even stronger. "Eventually we all heard it", a member of the band said. The first song that they wrote became an homage to the covenant they had joined before they even knew it themselves. "The House of Caine". Some say that the house now navigates the bands activity to a large extent and that the bands destiny is determined by its will.
MIDNIGHT CAINE's music is both empowering and spiritually uplifting in its emotional motif. And the driven rhythm of the guitars, bass and drums create a grand pulpit from where the "Mouth of Madness" beautifully sings the word of Caine.
MIDNIGHT CAINE has been writing a lot of new material the last year and recorded many demos that they share with the public. This year (2014) will mostly be spent on refining the new work and building up the foundation for the new era of the band. The direction is now more solid in all aspects and speaks more clearly to the audience too. The songwriting process has been different this time. The first song that came forth in the process was "House Of Caine". It took some time to get used to the new force and energy but as soon as the band got used to it the other songs came very quickly.
Other significant songs in the new collection are "Unholy Light" which seem to speak about the new transformation of the band. "Blood On The Trees" and "You Put Out The Sun", almost quest-like in their performance, give a feeling of a new mission, a goal in sight. MIDNIGHT CAINE has never been a band carrying certain ideals or messages. The lyrics has always been a bit obscure and still is today, but this time with more of an aim and meaning.
There will definitely be a new full length album coming up in the future. It has not been decided under which form or label yet. The nearest future will show what happens.
So, welcome to the new MIDNIGHT CAINE and true darkness. A combination of Rock music, horror, black magic and dark influences by the "House of Caine".
