POLEMICIST: Announce Debut & Release Single.
July 17, 2019
Philadelphia newcomers, Polemicist, burst through the gates with their savage and iron-fisted debut, Zarathustrian Impressions, which is due for release on August 30th via Fólkvangr Records.
Polemicist play a blistering version of black & death metal that focuses on narrative song structures that take the listener on a journey through philosophical hardship and triumph. The music, bursting with traditional heavy metal spirit and technique, journeys in both darkness and beauty - the true romantic spirit aims to capture beauty even in the thick darkness of the modern age. The artist has no choice but to paint the void, at any cost!
The blasting new foursome have released the first single from Zarathustrian Impressions titled, "On Redemption". About the song and album, front man Josiah Domico comments, "This album is based on Books II and III of Nietzsche's monolith Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Today's featured track is based on the aphorism of the same name (Book 2, Aphorism/Chapter 20). The track starts out with a direct quote 'To redeem what is past and to transform every it was into thus would I have it - that alone do I call redemption!' The ideas like overcoming and becoming who you are that Nietzsche espoused applies directly to our experiences as musicians in a band. This music was demanding to write and can be demanding to play. Despite all the hardships we as musicians face, we press on, against an indifferent world and create our own meaning through music."
"On Redemption" is streaming now at Decibel Magazine.
Pre-order is available NOW on compact disc, cassette, and digital via Fólkvangr Records.

In Fall 2017, guitarists/vocalist Josiah Domico and guitarist Lydia Giordano joined forces and pooled all of their combined influences: Gothic Rock/Metal, Black Metal, Classical, Baroque, Romantic, Modal Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Black Metal, Death Metal Thrash Metal and Heavy Metal. In September 2017, they completed the first track "Revenge of the Tarantulas" and decided to go all the way with a "Thus Spake Zarathustra" concept - rather calling it a work of Impressionism, rather than a rock opera or loose concept. With fierce and furious vocals and guitar from Domico and absolute destructive shredding from Giordano, they brought on the blistering talents of drummer, Jacob Nunn and bassist Sam Zettell. Forging their individual flames, the foursome got to work on creating their unrelenting debut. Polemicist tracked and recorded Zarathustrian Impressions in their home studio, Shred Shed Studios, and received mixing and mastering expertiece from Sebastien Robitaille (of Sorcier des Glaces fame).
Zarathustrian Impressions features stunning, hand-painted artwork by Philadelphia artist Pam Ainsworth.
