MONO have just shared the first taste of Rays of Darkness, the second of two albums the Japanese experimental rock band are releasing in October. The track, Recoil, Ignite is arguably the heaviest instrumental excursion the quartet have ever laid to tape, indicative of the minor key tone of the album's theme (the converse of the The Last Dawn, the other album the band is releasing the same day).

An excerpt from Recoil, Ignite can be heard HERE. The full track clocks in at just over thirteen minutes.

The albums - entitled The Last Dawn and Rays of Darkness - were recorded simultaneously, although they are, creatively and conceptually, worlds apart. They are two sides to a story, but they remain hand in hand. Themes that have permeated MONO's previous output are revisited through the conjoined albums: hope and hopelessness, love and loss, immense joy and unspeakable pain.
