MEDUSA1975: Set Release Date for New SVART Album, Reveal First Track
April 8, 2017
Today, Svart Records sets April 21st as the international release date for Medusa1975's highly anticipated Rising From the Ashes.
Medusa1975 has been around for a long time, although they've undergone several member changes as indicative of many bands from that era. Gary and Donna Brown, the two original guitarists from the band's earliest incarnation of the early '70s then known simply as Medusa, are still rocking hard and heavier than ever before. Joined by Randy Bobzien on vocals, rhythm and lead guitar, Phoenix Johnson on bass, and Dean McCall on drums, they have transformed into one of rock's heaviest and hard-hitting, yet least known, legendary melt-your-face-off forces to be reckoned with.
Rising From The Ashes is their latest creation, a combination of the original proto-metal style that defined their sound and a more modern mix of straight-ahead rock and prog. Peter Basaraba, Medusa's original singer-songwriter, wrote the lyrics for a song on this album, "Nine Circles of Hell," based on Dante's Inferno and added a few lines on another song, "Into The Night," recounting their meteoric musical journey from the ashes of virtual obscurity into the world's spotlight, reclaiming notoriety they were denied during their inception.
If you dug their groundbreaking, monumental debut album, 2013's First Step Beyond, then you won't want to miss this mighty asskicker! Begin the asskicking at Svart's Soundcloud HEREwith the new track "Heddin' For Armageddon." Cover and tracklisting are as follows:
