Producer/sound engineer Kevin Shirley (LED ZEPPELIN, IRON MAIDEN, AEROSMITH) is currently working on JOURNEY's second album with new singer Arnel Pineda, who was plucked from obscurity when the band caught him singing "Faithfully" on YouTube.

Says Shirley on his Caveman's Diary about the follow-up to 2008's Revelation:

"Recording of the new JOURNEY album is going along very well - eleven tracks recorded - four are complete minus backing vocals (Monday and Tuesday's agenda), and there are lead vocals and a guitar solo to go on the rest - a little percussion here and there, a bass fix, etc.

It's the same deal, recording-wise, the difference is in the details. The new songs are very, very creative and rocking, and I like the creativity within JOURNEY, but (like every other band) there are internal rubs (after 30 years in the business) which makes the days not necessarily as much fun as hard work. There is a theme to the entire album, which is very sexy and very rocking."
