Alternative rock pioneersJANE'S ADDICTIONwere forced to cancel their appearance at theReadingFestivalearlier tonight (Saturday, August 27) because frontman Perry Farrelwas suffering from a sore throat.

"AlthoughFarrellwas treated earlier in the day by top London physicians and had his heart set on trying to perform under any circumstance, in the end he was completely unable to produce any sound vocally," reads a statement issued by the festival organizers. "JANE'S ADDICTIONwould like to deeply apologize to the fans for any inconvenience."

It is not presently clear ifJANE'S ADDICTIONwill perform at theLeedsfestival tomorrow night (August 28).

JANE'S ADDICTION's new album"The Great Escape Artist", will be released on October 4. For the CD,JANE'S ADDICTIONjoined forces with producerRich Costey(MUSE,FRANZ FERDINAND,INTERPOL), with TVON THE RADIO'sDave Sitekon the team.Sitek, best known for his production work onTV ON THE RADIO,YEAH YEAH YEAHSandTHE FOALS, is writing, programming, and playing bass on the album.
