HOLYGRAM: Sign European Contract with SPV.
August 8, 2018
Music for the lost: Following a successful EP and extensive live shows supporting OMD, among others, during their 2017 European tour, HOLYGRAM from Cologne have completed their debut album: Modern Cults will be out in November 2018 on Oblivion/SPV and presents the five musicians' wide range of sounds that blend post-punk and new wave with Krautrock and shoegaze elements into a headstrong, multi-layered and thoroughly contemporary homage to the sound of the 1980s, including a resolute look to the future. The release of the first single 'Signals` has been scheduled for September 2018.
The album takes up where their 2016 EP left off and intensifies HOLYGRAM's contemplation of themes such as big cities, alienation and anonymity, hope and memories, love and identity, these constant reflections always in close interaction with the band's unmistakable sonic guise. The atmosphere oscillates between the brutal sounds of the big city and the fragility of the people that lose themselves in it ' intelligently observed scenarios of a world falling apart. The eleven songs were created over the past few years and some of them have already been tested in a live context. For the production of their album, which was recorded at Cologne's Amen Studios, Patrick Blümel (vocals), Sebastian Heer (drums), Marius Lansing (guitar), Pilo Lenger (synthesizer) and Bennett Reimann (bass) enlisted the support of Maurizio Baggio, who also produced The Soft Moon's recordings Deeper and Criminal.
The band will present their album live for the first time at the end of the year during their extensive tour through Europe and the USA, supporting VNV Nation.
HOLYGRAM are thrilled about their collaboration with Oblivion/SPV: "For us as a band, the cooperation with an experienced independent label such as SPV means a whole new challenge. We're really looking forward to this experience!"
Oblivion/SPV label boss Gero Herrde, is looking to the future with anticipation: "I've liked HOLYGRAM from the very first moment and live in particular they impress me all the way. SPV is very excited about this collaboration!"
