Featuring members of celebrated Philadelphia rock band EMPTY FLOWERS, HEX INVERTER creates eerie, retro-futuristic cinematic music that blends ambient psych, dark folk and simmering shoegaze. The band's self-titled debut, Hex Inverter, was recorded by the band's own Mick Mullin (Intronaut, Woe) and mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate, Palms). The record's stunning layout and design was created by artist Brian Azer (Sun Kil Moon, Jesu). In celebration of the record's release, New Noise premieres the new song, "The Mission Statement". Hear HEX INVERTER's "The Mission Statement" now at this location.

Avant-garde rock of this sort requires a certain ratio of tension and release; the tunes range from icy and cold to uplifting and warm. The mysterious sonic atmospheres on Hex Inverter hold a disembodied feel that is at once brooding, throbbing and psychedelic-yet-intensely-dark, reflecting a tense, dystopian mood with a sense of primordial dread. From an omniscient vantage point, these puppet masters' space explorations can feel tense and brooding, then shift to melodic and droney, as quietly sung lyrics provide nebulous narrative.

Fans of SINOIA CAVES, KRAFTWERK, ZOMBI, BETA BAND, JOHN CARPENTER and TANGERINE DREAM, stylistically, would be wise to check out Hex Inverter.
