December 9, 2018
Del Norte, CO based Singer / Songwriter GRAYSON ERHARD a stunning music video for "Introvert," off of his November 2nd released EP, Earthship. Originally premiered on mxdwn, "Introvert" was directed and filmed by Jason Lee Denton.
"'Introvert' is a reflection of the internal struggles of an introvert, outlining battles with constant bombardment of social situations and wanting to get back to solitude, but ultimately becoming comfortable in one's own skin. Personally, it's a musical observation of what I see living with and loving an introvert."- Grayson Erhard
"Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Grayson Erhard recently released a five song EP titled EARTHSHIP. The album is an eclectic offering with songs that touch on everything from folk to hard rock, all through the lens of his masterful guitar playing. Today, we're excited to premiere a video for the last song on that EP, a richly-arranged acoustic-rock number called 'Introvert.'" - Matt Matasci - mxdwn
Colorado-based musician Grayson Erhard's "Introvert" video is a visual romance to the introverts, the lovers of them, and the parts of ourselves that need solace.
The video, which dropped today following the release of Erhard sophomore album and EP EARTHSHIP, reflects a more mysterious, somber aesthetic compared to his recent "Tell Me No" video.
"'Introvert' reflects the times when I feel best alone," Erhard said. "It's about the welcome isolation that comes when everything else is overwhelming. And, yet, how we're all connected by our desire to pull away from society and into ourselves, at times."
Like much of the EP, "Introvert" marks a distinct shift toward a full-band, lyrically-focused style and away from Erhard's previously undressed, stand-alone acoustic sound.
In it, Erhard has weaved together the percussive style of his early love of Metal and the technically complex percussive guitar style that colored his early career with a more dreamy, indie rock sound. He purposefully plays with and disrupts the common chord progressions of pop music, while complimenting distinct harmonics with EARTHSHIP co-writer Bannigrin's drum lines.
The video was directed by Jason Lee Denton, produced by Schuyler Howie, and features Aliegh Sheilds. It was shot on location at a beautiful home outside of Nashville, TN.

Erhard's newest collection of music, EARTHSHIP, came to life inside of a Taos, NM earthship with co-writer, Bannigrin. The songs span from folk rock to hard rock and feature a style of guitar playing that's never been placed in those genres before, percussive fingerstyle. EARTHSHIP consists of five full-band tracks; and in honor of the fans that have been with him from the start, a stripped-down acoustic version of each song accompanied the release.
"The more of his music you listen to, the more entwined in his sound you become ' the more reliable it all appears, the more addictive, the more essential. I Will is a great introduction but fortunately there's more to it than just this one song (last year's Karma is another beauty). Grayson Erhard is an artist well worth exploring."- Rebecca Cullen, Stereo Stickman
Hailing from Del Norte, Colo., Grayson Erhard's style leans heavily on the technically complex tap-slap style of percussive guitar often paired with moving, airy vocals. Erhard often feels the pull between performing as a musicians' musician and the hook writing world of pop, creating a sound that weaves between complement and contrast. This unique tension, combined with Erhard's experience sharing the stage with Stevie Wonder, has led to Erhard's viral success and a sound that both complements and contrasts his various styles.
Songs like "Manifest" and "Tapestry" showcase Erhard's ability to stand on his own, organically, and represent beacons of the kind of musician Erhard strives to be. In pursuit of sonic expansion from his solo recordings, Erhard's newest collection of music, EARTHSHIP, came to life inside of a Taos, NM earthship with co-writer/drummer, Bannigrin. The compositions developed into full-band arrangements spanning from folk rock to hard rock while still featuring his unique style of guitar playing. EARTHSHIP consists of five full-band tracks; and in honor of the fans that have been with him from the start, a stripped-down acoustic version of each song will accompany the release.
While he daylights as a computer programmer, Erhard's music showcases his authentic, organic style, honed since his childhood in the southern Colorado town of Del Norte-a rural community of 1,800 people on the western edge of the San Luis Valley. More commonly known as "The Valley," it's a section of Colorado hot with alien observatories and cosmic undertones. Here, in isolation, Erhard ground out a sound that is entirely his own, but this small town was no place to pursue a music career or develop his budding interest in programming, driving him to the Front Range of Colorado.
