GLACIAL TOMB: Announce New Album &, New Track "Breath of Pestilence."
September 21, 2018
Denver, Colorado death dealers GLACIAL TOMB (featuring members of KHEMMIS) have announced the release of their new self titled album via Gilead Media this Fall. Engineered, produced, and mastered by Dave Otero at Flatline Audio (KHEMMIS, CATTLE DECAPITATION, ARCHSPIRE, and more), 'Glacial Tomb' is a ravenous, pummeling dose of unrelenting death metal and will be available across CD and LP formats on October 26. Pre-orders for the album are available here:
GLACIAL TOMB are streaming the first new track off their self titled debut. The track, a steamrolling amalgamation of death metal brutality and punk intensity titled "Breath of Pestilence" is streaming now at Revolver Magazine.
Regarding the new track, the band comments, "To exist is to be torn from the peace of the void and thrust into a world wrought of violence and betrayal. We are all complicit in this endless cycle of abuse. We have all failed. We are all traitors."
They continue about the album,
"Years of loss, pain, and visceral disgust with this world allowed us to create these songs. This album was born of suffering, as each of us lost loved ones while writing this record -- fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, and partners. This album was also born of hope, a genuine belief that humankind's capacities for both the light and the dark will allow us to cast aside the bonds of selfishness and greed or succumb to them and be forgotten by time, buried beneath the steel and concrete. In our minds, both are equally beautiful."
Listen to "Breath of Pestilence" via Revolver Magazine:
Denver's GLACIAL TOMB (Ben Hutcherson - Guitar, Vocals; Connor Woods- Bass, Vocals; Michael Salazar - Drums) take death metal to new heights with their eponymous debut album.
Unrelenting, calculated, and intense, each of the 7 tracks on "Glacial Tomb" see the band draw inspiration from death metal at a time where the genre relied on unforgiving sonic brutality as much as it did masterful musicianship. Tracks such as the opening "Monolithos" and "Witness" see the band club and pummel the listener with some of the heaviest riffs to spawn from the Western US, while tracks such as "Breath of Pestilence" showcase the band's punk rock spirit as they contemplate existential dread, misanthropy, and failure.
Not to be confined to a single sonic identity, much of GLACIAL TOMB's music ebbs and flows throughout the spectrum of the extreme; incorporating sludging riffs, and angular, dissonant black metal chording into their arsenal. "Glacial Tomb" is a heavy, at times uncomfortable album, and one of 2018's most undeniable releases in the genre.
