I am a very good mood man usually, no doubt about that, and all of you, dear sons and daughters of Ol' Big Daddy here, the ones who read Metal Temple reviews, knows that very well. But I never understood (and will never, for the sake of Metal) the comedians things inside Heavy Metal. I never saw Metal as something to be a comedian act, for it's my music and lifestyle. So all that DON JAMIESON stands for opposes to what I see, think and live for, so "Hell Bent for Laughter" is a detestable testimony of what I must despise in life: turning Metal in laughter reason.
Ok, it has a good sound production, and it's fine to enjoy yourselves laughing many times. I really appreciate a good joke, but never when I talk about Metal, band's works or music. No, that's no reason for laughs, for many bands are trying to live on the style, through hard sufferings, and then a guy come and make jokes from what I love?
No, I'm not laughing. I'm angry in a way that some rarely see on Ol' Big Daddy here.
No single music, just jokes and a think I saw and heard many times before from comedians better than this. And I really prefer something from THREE STOOGES, Charles Chaplin or Laurel and Hardy, or even dirty humor for Brazilian acts like Dercy Gonçalves, Costinha or Ary Toledo, for they were really were really masters of laughter, or then the Japanese act NetaJin. But parodies are always disgusting, for you are making joke of someone, and maybe the person would not like that. One example is the joke talking about Rob Halford. Every Metallian knows that he is gay since, since he told about that on 1998, and he told that was very hard for him to live before that. It's something serious, and the entire world is talking about the gay marriage, trying to engage in political issues to guarantee their rights (personally, I think it's something noble). It's not a thing for some freak idiot (IDIOT, fuck off the education for that!) deal with or makes some joke. Want to laugh? The find a good film of the genre, and keep away from this pile of garbage. One must respect himself before asking for respect.
It's something to stay away, and it's a shame. and rather strange to me, that Metal Blade Records, a label that has been strongly supportive of the worldwide underground for so many years, to release such crap. It might a sort of leisure, but it was hard for me to laugh about it that much.
I never failed to see the better points in any kind of release, but this something else entirely and I was surprised as I believe that every work has its value, but this one is empty with some sense of existence.
