CORNERS OF SANCTUARY: Announce Mad T As New Drummer
May 28, 2016
New Wave of Traditional American Heavy Metal band Corners Of Sanctuaryhave announced the recruitment of replacement drummer, Mad T, following the recent departure of member Sean Nelligan. Mad T, who has performed with the band multiple times over the last two years filling in for Nelligan, will be covering the band's current summer show schedule.
"Things change... maybe not at the most opportune times, but change is part of the grand scheme and everything happens for a reason. Change often brings a new energy," said COS guitarist and founding member Mick Michaels.
Mad T, drummer for the female-fronted, hard rock band Powerless Rise, has previously worked with Michaels on several projects. In 2013-14, the two collaborated with the group Decypher, which released two EPs and in 2015 with the band System Sonic. T also participated in the writing of several Corners of Sanctuary songs including co-penning "Only One", "Shadow Soldiers", "Lost in a Dream" "Heroes Never Die" and "Octahedron". Michaels is also currently producing Powerless Rise's first full-length album "Set Sail" which is slated to release later this summer. "It's an honor to be working with Corners of Sanctuary again and the least I can do given the amount of support they have shown me over the last few years," Mad T said. "I really appreciate their confidence and this opportunity," he continued.
"Mad T has been a great supporter of this band and we appreciate the chance to be working with him again as we begin forging a new chapter in the Corners of Sanctuary saga," said bassist James Pera. "He is a welcomed addition," Pera added.
Whether or not Mad T will be signed on as a permanent replacement has yet to be determined given his current commitments. The band has also been speaking with several other candidates regarding the position. "The band continues to press on... the music comes first. Bringing Mad T aboard was a no brainer and allows for no downtime. There is a lot on the horizon and still so much more to come from COS! stay tuned," Michaels added.
Corners of Sanctuary is scheduled for a string of summer shows including the Metal Eternal Fest Tour, opening for Act of Defiance and a series New England dates. A "best of" compilation titled "Declaration of Metal" as well a new video are set to release this summer. COS is also in the studio working on a new single featuring Mad T, scheduled to release in June, which will lead into sessions to begin recording a new album projected to drop in 2017.
