On the eve of their Sunday appearance at France's largest annual metal festival, Hellfest, Mexico's CEMICAN have premiered a lyric video for a new song from their forthcoming third album (and M-Theory Audio debut), "In Ohtli Teoyohtica In Miquiztli" ("the mystical path of the dead"). Check out "La Que Baja De Las Estrellas" ("the one that comes down from the stars") at this location:

Says the band, "This song represents the essence of CEMICAN and reflects in the music a tribute to death, with atmospheres created in the initial passage that transport you to the mystic ritual via the dark sound of the pre-Hispanic instruments."

The music of CEMICAN - whose name means "the duality of life and death" in the Aztecan language of Nahuatl (spoken by 2 million people in Central Mexico) - incorporates elements of the legends, mysticism and ideologies of ancient Mexican culture. Due August 23, the group's new album further explores those themes, as the title refers to fallen warriors who travel to Mictlan, the underworld in Aztec mythology.

Featuring striking cover artwork designed by Jesús Lhysta (Rotted Artist / Extreme Metal Artworks), "In Ohtli Teoyohtica In Miquiztli" is now available for pre-order on CD and limited-edition black vinyl at this location https://www.m-theoryaudio.com. As with CEMICAN's previous releases, the album sees the group combine the modern instrumentation of a rock band with traditional pre-Hispanic instruments.

After independently releasing two albums and performing alongside some of metal's top names (Amon Amarth, Korpiklaani, Ensiferum, Eluveitie, etc.) in their native Mexico, CEMICAN experienced a breakout year in 2018. In addition to their single/video "Guerreros de Cemican" receiving regular airplay on SiriusXM's Liquid Metal, the six-piece group was invited to perform at the Paris edition of the Download Festival and Germany's Wacken Open Air, as well as Force Fest - described by Revolver as "Mexico's premier open-air festival" - and Hell & Heaven Fest in their home country. The band's momentum continued to build in early 2019, when they were invited to perform at two European winter festivals - France's Cernunnos Pagan Fest and Germany's Wacken Winter Nights.
