"On a higher level "Storm" is about temptation. The temptation in darker times to commit to something that is desperate. It's about a character, from outside or from within, that like a Pied Piper tempts you with a melody into following and subsequently into death."

A new album will be released in the near future, although the date is yet to be announced. We can reveal some explosive details already: the record has been recorded and produced with the undisputed queen of Swiss metal, Anna Murphy (Cellar Darling, ex-Eluveitie) at Soundfarm Studios, mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Leprous, Symphony X & more), and features illustrious guest performers including a cello virtuoso Tina Guo (Hans Zimmer, 'Wonder Woman' soundtrack), Anna Murphy on guest vocals, Devon Graves of the legendary Psychotic Waltz, and former Scar Symmetry vocalist Christian Älvestam. Last, but not least, Appearance of Nothing's new guitar sound was recorded at Swiss guitar legend Tommy Vetterli's New Sound Studio.

"Modern, heavy, gripping, compelling, thrilling (...) for those who always wanted to find out how Dream Theater or Symphony X might sound if they were put through the high-tech meatgrinder

"[Appearance of Nothing] surprises each single time, there is always something new to discover."
- Scream Magazine (NL)

"Some of the best progressive metal comes from Sweden, but now people will have to turn their attention to Switzerland."

"This band has absolutely no musical limitations and resembles therefore Pain of Salvation! While mentioning Sweden, the band also combines elements from Opeth & Seventh Wonder."
- Norway Rock Magazine (NO)

The story so far!

The Swiss prog metal band Appearance of Nothing was founded in 2004 by Omar Cuna (Bass & vocals), Marc Petralito (Keys), Pat Gerber (Vocals/Guitar)and Yves Lüthi (Drums). After a short experimental period the band began to write their own songs, quickly developing into crushing prog metal sounds filled with epic wall of synths.

In 2005 the first self-produced demo "Behind Closed Doors" was released. Many positive reactions encouraged the band to continue and swiftly start working on the next album. In 2008 "Wasted Time" was released and the band engaged Markus Teske as producer, who worked with bands such as Vanden Plas and Symphony X. This highly acclaimed release combines atmospheric symphonic sounds with high power riffage and drumming that brings together the best elements of Dream Theater, Symphony X, Saga and Vanden Plas. Arrangements are grand and lush with powerful keyboard passages and strutting guitars, all backed with a great rhythm section.

After spending some time playing live and touring the world 2010 saw a release of the second studio album, "All Gods Are Gone". The album mixed a considerably more aggressive punch with modern attitude and a collaboration with a legend of a vocalist, Dan Swanö (ex Edge of Sanity/Nightingale).

After more touring and some line up changes the machine that is Appearance Of Nothing continues on! The new single "Storm" is the first song from the next, 4th, studio album for the Swiss prog metallers.
