Aittala is set to release their fourth full-length album entitled 'American Nightmare' on December 6th, 2016. This is a follow-up to 2014's 'Effigy'.

'American Nightmare' is a collection of 10 brand new Aittala songs and it's a return to more diverse song writing Aittala established on the first 2 full-length
albums (Bed of Thorns & Haunt Your Flesh).

Elements of power, thrash, stoner, doom and traditional heavy metal are throughout the album but the unique Aittala sound ties them together.

Vocalist/guitarist Eric explains:

"While writing for Effigy, I was consciously letting heavier styles of music influence my writing. While I think 'Effigy' has some great songs on it, they really don't reflect my song writing as a whole. For 'American Nightmare' I didn't let anything in particular influence me consciously. I just let the process happen organically."I really believe this is the best Aittala album yet" Eric adds. "Of course all bands make that claim when their new album is released, but this time I mean it. I'm really excited for people to hear it."

Eric explains the title 'American Nightmare':

"While some people will draw a direct parallel with what's happening in America with the presidential elections, riots and other societal issues it's much bigger than that. The American nightmare encompasses the realities and perceptions of what people feel is wrong with our country; over-the-top political correctness, people being offended by words, safe spaces, slacktivism, bathroom laws; the list goes on and on. Basically our first-world problems."

Drummer/Gary 'Zeus' Smith adds:

"Eric really stepped it up on this album and I truly believe it is an album for a much larger audience than the previous three. There's something for everyone on it and it fits extremely well with what's happening with the state of the nation even if it is somewhat tongue in cheek (or is it?)."
