Just a few weeks ago in mid-August, Tacoma, Washington natives Aethereus finally released their critically praised new album Absentia through The Artisan Era that was years in the making. The group's take on progressive death metal deftly combines elements of atmospheric death metal, ferocious technical death metal, and more overtly melodic death metal focused ends of the spectrum into a sound all their own. Aethereus cites influences ranging from Obscura, Spawn of Possession, Cynic, and Gorod which rightly shows in the ambitious and smartly crafted songs found on Absentia.

Today the band partnered with Gear Gods to premiere a dual guitar and bass guitar playthrough video for "Cascades of Light".

Gear Gods comments on the playthrough premiere of "Cascades of Light"

"Hold on to ya butts ' this playthrough is a fast and furious ride through contrapuntal waters. Aethereus hail from the soggy northwest of Tacoma, Washington, and have been slinging their brand of tech-y prog since 2014.
This track, "Cascades of Light", comes straight off their brand-heckin' new joint Absentia which dropped August 10th, and features mastering and a guest solo by our own Brody Uttley (Rivers of Nihil), so if you enjoyed this raucous track, you are sure to love the rest of the album as well."
